Looks like they were built late 1947, so I imagine with a little weathering, they could still be around in the 60's.

When you are modeling a specific era, it can be helpful to check the railcar data from the image. From right of the door, the cars were built in 9-47.From the weight data to the left of the car, it was reweighted in 8-55, so it was active then and probably into the mid-1960s.
PS - I ran across an image from Dec 1978 of one of these cars, apparently not in service. So at least a couple of these cars survived the 1960s.

It's an interesting and eye-catching scheme. If it makes you happy, I'd certainly go for it for the 60's, especially with a reweight in 8-55.

Yeah Dave, it's one of the reasons I like the 1950-1970 era, the interesting and sometimes even informative boxcar paint schemes. As a west coast guy, I've been fond of the ATSF "chiefs" series, both native American and named trains, WPs Feather River cars and SPs "Golden Pig" piggyback. Unfortunately, by the 1970s they all seemed to end up painted brown.

I found them at Marsilius ... That's a good catch. The cars are from 2017 and long gone here. You might also be interested in a car from the B&O companion shipping service, Sentinel, which is rather sharp looking and still available:500-00-751. Mark

I grew up in the heart of Erie Lackawanna territory in Ohio in the 60's - 70's and well remember the interesting variety of boxcars with character. Like many, I've also always loved the ATSF Warbonnet scheme. Since I model the central Ohio rails, I was thrilled to discover former ATSF Warbonnet SD75M's had actually operated on Central Ohio rails as CSX leased units from BNSF. The AZL ATSF SD75M's are a delight to run. And, hence, my avatar of a colorful duo of CSX and ex-Santa Fe passing through Deshler, Ohio, in April, 2011. I'm now more than jazzed to see AZL will be releasing RS3's, and Han's indicating the second run will include the Erie Lackawanna and/ or Erie. I'm already picking-up some 60's-70's relevant rolling stock, so I'll be ready for some EL action. Erie would be nice to have but we NEED EL so I can operate in my favorite era, with my favorite railroad. Thank you, AZL!
