Got the wiring on my turnouts connected to the control panel of my layout and have been running trains to fine tune the track work. I need to shim a few turnouts to eliminate the grade change where they connect, but it's almost time to put the glass back on. I will do a more finished looking control panel when I'm done testing. The opposite end of the lower drawer will be for storage as I have way more engines and rolling stock than will ever fit in my layout. When I get too bored, I can change the era to match the mood I'm in.

I painted, assembled and installed a hotel on my western layout. I also made more progress on the MOPAC diner conversion.

I painted, assembled and installed a hotel on my western layout. I also made more progress on the MOPAC diner conversion. Please, show us both! A MOPAC diner would be of common interest and hotels in the West are always welcome!

This week well yesterday the benches and carts for the Goldtree Station arrived. I ordered 3 Shire Scenes photo etched brass kits from Zscale Monster Trains, Each one comes with a slightly different style of bench. Today I started to assemble them. This proved to be a bit more difficult than i had expected. At first all i succeed in doing was gluing both the parts and my fingers to the tweezers. After freeing the parts and my fingers from the tweezers I decided to try and Solder them together After all i all ready had a nice layer of glue on my finger tips to protect them from getting burned by the hot iron. Using a micro tip on my Hakko 2032 iron I was able to assemble 2 benches a cart and a hand truck.

A few pictures of the 2 set of benches. Even though these only consisted of 2 parts each, they were just as difficult to assemble as the ones above. The seat back with arms & legs that folded forward, and the bench seat, It took me about 3 hours to assemble all 6 benches. The bench seats were a hair too long so the tabs on each end had to be filed down a little and reshaped so they would fit in the slot on the side arms. Once the parts fit together properly soldering them together was the easy part. David

In the picture below If you look closely at the bench on the top left you can see that the arm on the right side is at a slight angle, With the bench seat part being a hair too long the arms couldn't be folded all the way in. As for size well my finger print looks huge in comparison

Those benches are quite fine, very nice, and your corrections to make them fit, wow, nice to know if I ever try those. My one and only Z scale bench is from the Animek gazebo, which included a bench and waste can. That bench was wood though. I just checked and it looks like the vast majority of my first year in Z scale was taken up by building Architectural kits. 15 in 15 months!

I have so much of that small detail stuff, just not enough time in the past to make up and/or put them on at shows. My goal now with the extra space is set up a module and go for it. At last enough to reduce my 'not on the modules' space. I built a lot of the Shire Scenes, TrainCat and Micron Art stuff. Well detailed. There is a lot from Luetke Modelbahn, Rolfs Laedchen and others in Europe too
