Mo’ betta. Will that have access to grain? Could use it for a rervesing track too. I’ll be realigning and adding spurs when I pull my Z-Bend Track modules into the house layout.

Yes I guess it could be an off load point! Ha, thats a great idea about a reversing loop. Maybe one day, the track crew is beat from this endeavor. 😎

Did some running tonight. Mostly just testing and burn-in for recent purchases over the past 6-12 months. First up is a quartet of Geeps that is just hard not to like. Then a pair of KCS units, frequent visitors on BNSF trains.

A trio of ATSF units, one fresh off the boat. The other two are awaiting a nose job soon, hopefully. A pathetic unit coal train, but if you squint and use your imagination it looks pretty neat. If AZL would do more $#&@ing bethgons, I could have a more respectable train.

And finally, my two SD40-2's that will be getting decoders installed very soon. (Tomorrow night will be "DCC Night".) And yes I know I have a little boo-boo there with the handrails. Already fixed.

Weekend, part two. Fished some TrainboxesPlus boxes out of the attic and cleaned them off, with the idea to put my N-Scale stuff in them. (which I did) Well, had two extra so I decided to see if it would work for my Z. Turns out, worked pretty well.

While there are negatives to doing this, the positives for me far outweigh the negatives. Easy access to my collection is the primary benefit, versus having to "shell pistachios" to get to my stuff every time. Note, currently don't have my tank cars or Intermodal in them. Tanks might get there eventually, but I'll probably keep the intermodal in their shells. They are so intricate that it is probably worthwhile to leave them there.

I love these boxes. Store mainly my Z scale locomotives in one. The glass is UV filtering which is was nice when it was in a sunny room. Not as big of a deal now that it is in the garage.

These are actually cardboard trays. I do have a shelf that is similar probably to what you're talking about. Has a glass cover, very nice looking.

With summer fast approaching, I have been working to finish the inside of my Z scale T-Trak-Z end cap module. This module is rural themed The interior features will be a cattle barn with pen, and fields. There is a hill that helps separate the scene on the one corner. But this hill will also be heavily tree covered. I wanted represent trains running through a cut. Next up is applying soil, ground cover, ballast and greenery. Then it is on to trees and bushes.

Still not seeing what Hans has me tendin’ to believe. GP38-2s—I don’t see the flaws. With different track-and-powerpack setups, yeah, they tend to run a bit jerky. Other days they run smoothly like other AZL locomotives in my collection. The GP38-2s may have arthritis. After several late night reads, I decided rather suddenly to purchase an AZL B&O Mikado. Looks like I bought the last one from a well-known AZL dealer, too. Irony! From a prototypical perspective, as the B&O had a fleet of 100 (and the first fleet of Mikado from Baldwin), it was the last B&O Mikado, 4599. (Virtually all Mikados were scraped by 1958, and they were all made in proliferation immediately following WWI.) Breathtaking! I am in absolute awe at the quality of the craftsmanship and the incredible level of detail (and that I do not take for granted). Even if the product has been shelved for a decade, for itty-bitty American Z scale steam engines, I feel AZL should have reaped some type of award for American ingenuity, excellence in hobby product design, or a consumer industrial design award—Whatever—And I don’t mean a plaque from YouTube! As papa used to say, keep those cards and letters coming. Most appreciatively, Scott Attachments:

Not quite the weekend, but an update never less. Let the flocking fly! With the underlaying paint down, time to start building up the layers. First was real soil, sifted and glue down with matte Mod Podge. I let that dry for a few days. Next is on to the base greenery. This included underbrush for the forested section, new growth in one of the fields and assorted grasses. Next up... trees and details. I may put in the split rail fence next to help me decide tree placement. But for now, time to let everything dry for a day. Attachments:
