I finished the last of the projects I started several weekends ago. This is a MTL SD40-2 Decorated for the MoPac.

I finished applying decals and re-assembling some of the projects I've had waiting for the past few weeks. I still have a MTL SD40-2 left to do. View AttachmentView AttachmentHi, How do you do to repaint the RS .....? Did you take off the old paint with acetone or something like that .? Or repaint directly....? Eltiti1

Hi, I have never stripped the paint off of anything before I did the repaint. I spray right over the existing paint. I, sometimes, paint a light color over a darker color as a color block before I paint the final color if the final color is a light color.

Eltiti1 DON'T USE (try using) Acetone. High likelihood of it attacking the plastic. I use the following, in order, depending on if the first/next one on the list is ineffective. <weakest> 1. 70% Isopropyl Alcohol 2. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol 3. Simple Green (Brand of cleaner/degreaser in the US) 4. Purple Power (Brand of cleaner/degreaser in the US) <strongest> The above is my "safe" progression. When I was in N-scale...where replacing shells was generally easy and inexpensive...I typically would skip 70% as I've never had 70 -or- 91 damage anything, and 91 often does the job when 70 is about 50/50. And I usually skipped Simple Green since discovering Purple Power. In Z, I have been a little more careful since buying shells is not easy or cheap. As always, a disclaimer... 1. As they say in the automotive industry, "your mileage may vary". The above are based on my experiences and not scientific fact. 2. Stay safe...wear gloves and eye protection and work in a ventilated area. You want to minimize this stuff getting on your skin and in your eyes for sure.

I have started work on my new 2’ x 4’ layout, using 1” x 4” fir the frame, and hardboard for the sub-base with 2’ x 2’ x 1” foamboard from Home Depot attached to the top.
The track plan will be a simple double loop with the outer loop of 270mm and the inner 245mm. There will eventually be turnouts within the inner loop. My plan is to have two trains, at first, having the ability to isolate one if the trains while I work the other one.
Eventually I want true two-train operation with the outer loop running a passenger train and the inner loop running the freight.
Question: with this plan in mind, how can I wire the layout for two-train operation from the very beginninG?

Do you have a layout in mind you could post? It would be easier to suggest isolation points that way.
