Every two years we run this poll. So it is time again! In 2018 47 folks responded. The clear winner was the 53' well cars. Well since that time, we have added two new cars, including the just released MAXI-Is sets. So here you go folks, it is the 2020 poll! To keep things consistent, you are only able to vote one time. Since the MAXI-Is are so new, I plan to leave this poll open for a while to allow folks time to get their MAXI-I sets and evaluate them.

It would be nice if there were two columns, first favorite and second favorite... I would bet that many would agree they have a hard time picking just one from so many! :-) |

I placed a speculative vote on the Maxi-I's. On paper, they have become my new favorite.  But I've yet to have time to put them through the paces. Assuming they operate ok, I think they'll hold on to that title. I should have my second specimen here this week and I'll see if I can get some run time on them.   My very close second is still the corn syrup cars. Honorable mention is split among bethgons, PS2-CDs, Trincool reefers, and coil cars. I also really like the high cube 60ft boxcars, centerbeams, beer cars, and 53ft stack cars too.  |

There are some interesting conclusions one could draw from this poll:
- There are only 37 forum members that model freight trains.
- Only 37 members model freight trains using AZL cars.
- Members are so dazzled by the AZL offerings that only 37 could choose a favorite.

Why doesn't anybody make the same "questionnaire" with freight cars by "other" firms ? AZL makes mainly rather "recent" cars. For myself I like the FT-33'-hoppers (I have a whole train of them) and vintage cars ("Susie" by MTL ! )

Well I did create this poll for AZL since it is AZL's forum.  For me, I voted for the coil cars. These were one I advocated AZL for and just love. Growing up in Pittsburgh, I saw these everywhere! The MAXI-I sets have become a 2nd favorite. I have been running these extensively and like them more and more. The look and feels is fantastic. Rob |

(well now they're Freightcar America AVC's) I would like to have one of the CP's but I don't need four of them. I keep hoping a single will pop up on eBay but so far no luck. (heck, I'm not sure I've ever seen even a 4-pack on eBay...in any road. If I did it was likely Amtrak.) Anyway, the pics of the model look nice, and I'm sure I'll find a way to grab one eventually. |
