February 2019 New Release – Part 2

VIA Rail – Genesis P42s and Passenger Cars!

AZL is happy to release VIA Rail Genesis P42s with VIA mail and lightweight coaches. We have had quite a few requests for more VIA stock.. well here it is!

Amtrak® Phase III Auto Train Sets and Phase IVb Dining and Baggage Cars

This is another big month for our Amtrak fans. First we have the phase III Auto Train – auto racks. Two four packs are available.

AZL and Z-Panzer have partnered again to offer M1126 and M1134 Strykers. The M1126 Stryker is a Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV). The M1134 Stryker variant is an Anti-Tank Guided Missile Vehicle (ATGM).

Sometimes I think AZL has a spy cam in my office. I was about to do the dip on an MTL baggage car for conversion when the extended Sierra power failure hit.

My question about VIA Rail lightweights: whether other types of cars will be released in the future for this road name? For example, dome car and others:

I see that VIA Rail is not listed in announced road names, so in order to make a complete VIA Rail train set, should I just buy several AZL-73751 coaches, or there will be also other car types in future?

Hi Alex

The coach and baggage / RPO cars were the only two that matched out lightweight tooling. The dome car that you show has corrugated or rib sides to it, while all of our lightweight tooling is smoothnsided, so it would not be a match for the VIA dome.

In fact, the two VIA cars were last minute additions to the lightweight program. We were happy to include them because there were a few medium distance trains that ran with that particular combination of up to four coaches and a baggage / RPO car.
