You know, for those in Central Ohio, if you peak in the Ztrack office windows, you may just get a glance at what is coming... Just saying...
For those wanting to actually come into the office, there are non-disclosure forms at the door. Please fill one out and take a number.

But guessing is ever so much fun. It's like Christmas, why would I want to peek?

You've already told us who, Hans has told us what, Rob has told us where. The only real question is when, and a good guess for that is before the end of the year. Like Christmas it's only a matter of which colorful package it's in. Mark

As the proud owner of 4 Missouri Pacific E-8 locomotives from AZL, I would sure be happy to get a model of the COLORADO EAGLE or THE EAGLE, however they might be labeled. So it would be nice to have some passenger cars to match the blue/antique white passenger scheme. Maybe each month, several cars from different roads. Whatever, AZL is the best. I have both N-scale and Z-scale. For N-scale there is KATO. For z-scale there is AZL. Thanks and I hope for the best. I will keep watching the forum.

Look at Rob´s answer to my T&P train in my West-Texas project in the customers gallery! We can hope for nice EAGLE passanger cars for the MoPac which can be used by the T&P aswell .

thanks for the info.....I would hope that some of the passenger cars are labeled COLORADO EAGLE on the letterboard....but I could be happy with THE EAGLE as well.....having grown up in Jefferson City, MO, it was my luck to often see the COLORADO EAGLE going west at 6:15pm and east at 9:45am.....beautiful train.....in N-scale using KATO cars, I have airbrushed my own version with COLORADO EAGLE on the letterboard....I did a few with THE EAGLE also.....interestingly, the COLORADO EAGLE was the first streamliner to feature a dome car (890, 891, 892), in revenue service ....for my N-scale version I had decals made at Rail-Graphics in Elgin, IL.....if you get any further info, pass it along.....it looks like your project is outstanding....it looks good and growing!

Are there any pics or renderings that show the cars? I'm particularly interested in the Amtrak baggage car to go along with my Superliners. Most of the long distance Amtrak trains used an older baggage car in the consist, typically with a earlier era paint scheme as putting new paint on baggage cars isn't one of their priorities. Perhaps AZL will consider adding a baggage car to the Superliner sets as well. But I will just be happy to see one offered.

Yes, regarding the baggage cars for the Superliners, it would really be nice if we could get one of the Amtrak baggage cars as a separate car without having to buy a set.

Hi from the UK
I have been considering Z scale for some time and as I am a US 1950s/1960s passenger train fan, the promise of all these lightweight cars means I will have to sell the grandchildren!
Would you do one or two Mopac 'Jenks blue' cars too?

These are PRR style signals. Researching today the PRR sleepers painted UP colors for the City trains (22 sec and 10-5...not what AZL has modeled) I noticed many of their "ordinary" signals were painted all black. I’ll be curious to see how many creative licenses are spotted in the lightweight project. Tactical choices had to be made to bring this project to market on a cost effective basis. Many of the cars are based on UP prototypes (this we released the UP first) but not all. The biggest challenge with the lightweights is in how few cars were a standard design. I went with the early 4-4-2 and 6-6-4 sleepers because they were built during the Pullman era, and thus fairly standard amongst the railroads that were assigned, and eventually owned them. The observation car is the American Milemaster - one of the first of its type. The coach is a standard 44 seat long distance coach unit. If I get any of these details wrong, I did the research over two years ago and I’m doing this from memory while on holiday. Hope you all enjoy the lightweights! It was a fun project and the single largest project we have ever done at AZL. I hope the scope of This project this gives your imagination some fuel for what comes next from AZL! Rob, First of all I'd like to say that I am very impressed with the initial release of LW cars. I'm impressed with the details: the etched brass, close coupling and UP tint glazing, as RobK has already mentioned. But it's also the Armour Yellow sleepers from the other roads. The detail that SP would only used their font on the letter boards. I'm a bit disappointed that there aren't also coaches from C&NW and SP. I wanted to say the same about Pennsylvania sleepers until I confirmed that their yellow cars were 22 section "Rapids" series and 10-5 "Inn" series cars, which of course were beyond the scope of your project. If you are throwing down the glove to look for creative license for cost effective manufacturability I'll pick it up. Although I haven't received my cars yet several things have jumped out at me. While the grey trucks are appropriate prior to 1952 and to match MTL, silver trucks have had a longer life and the Wabash car, which would have been post-1954, would have never had grey trucks. It really jumps out in RobK's video. Fortunately, I see that as an easy fix. I'm bothered by the drain pipe sized roof antennas. I would have hoped for etched brass for something that looks like: But again I see this as an easy fix. I suspect we'll have a few more comments once the cars are in hand and I suspect the folks of the non-Pacific roads will have a few more. But my AZL dealer here is happy: I more than doubled my sight-unseen order with them after seeing the release post. Enjoy your vacation...while you can. Mark
