The pecan harvest is mostly done with a ground harvester which collects the fallen big pecan nuts which are as big as a coco nut.

Sometimes there is still a lot of hard work to do when too many nuts remain in the tree more than 140 trees form this part of the plantation

Most of the pecans will be shipped by rail, but there are also customers who receive their processed products in packages by trucks.

You have certainly captured the look of a Texas pecan farm. I can remember seeing the big old pecan trees lining the riverbank in San Marcos where I went tubing. Their shade was sure welcome on a hot June afternoon.

Oh thank you! You made my day! According to wikipedia they grow up to 40 meters, but I wasn´t shure, if that would be the case in plantations.
Best regards, Ingo

Best regards, Ingo Both TX & CA have impressive pecan trees, although the prolonged drought in both states have killed many of them despite their long taproots. Nice modeling.

I´m still waiting for my Atlas turnouts and keep my fingers crossed, that they are not affected by that AFFA-desaster. Without them, the T&P-Line in the background cannot continue to Allamore ( and Van Horn staging). And the SP / TNO-Line cannot proceed to Valentine, the big hole to the right. So, I had time to do little arrangements at the more-or-less finished part.

The gas station at Ft. Hanckock /Tx. has now some tank cars from the U.S. transportation corps and the GMC fuel tanker from EA Electronics is a great addition!

I found an old picture of Sierra Blanca /Tx., showing a Mexican Quarter on the other side of the tracks where the railroad gangs lived. Reason enough to do built my own version.

Randy Brown´s Sherrif´s office works well as a general store! As I had already "stolen" their original church, which stands on my layout on the other side of town, my Mexicans needed an other chappel...... ....... so I used Randy Brown´s Pacos´s Taco Diner. I removed the seating area in front and added two "bells",which ar little brass peaces for handrails for ships in larger scales. You can see the holes only from a special angle and if you are very close.

I love your innovative approaches to kit bashing! If you can't find what you want, transform something. Well done!

The Copacabana Auto Service is another building in the mexican quarter. It is a paper modell! I recommend to look at papermau.blogspot.com ! You will find there a lot of papaer-modells for free. There are some links to other homepages of paper-enthusiasts, too. Not everthing is usefull to z scale. But if you make a jpg out of the instruction and put it in a word document, you can play with the size untill it fits your desired dimensions.
