Once again some great looking buildings. I always like the one-of-a-kind structures. There is a publishing company here, Arcadia Publishing, that specializes in historic picture books of just about everything: towns, counties, railroads, even an astronomical observatory. They're some great reference material and they just happen to have a book on Marfa, TX: www.arcadiapublishing.com/Products/9780738558554that might be of use to you. Mark

One of the pics is from that book you mentioned. It is a great series and I (hopefully) have all books about that area.

The "missing link" between Valentine/ Tx. and Marfa/ Tx. is closed now! A lot of detail work has still to be done but it might give you an idea. On the left leg you will realize the gap in the backdrop. It will be closed as soon as I´m sure that the access to the 3-track staging loop behind Allamore/Tx. on the T&P line will function propperly. The SP line is the lower one closer to the edge.

Thank you, cwrr! Here are some more pics in detail: To make a comunity convincing for me I ask myself which kind of infrastucture might be needed for living. In this case I found it challanging to create a school area. I decided to place "Marfa High" direct on Tx 90, close to the real existing Godbold Inc. feed & seed. Some internet research helped. Tx 90 is a good catwalk for the wonderful models of JMC. With the tankers I coudn´t resist...

A fire fighter station is important for every community! These guys have "Inspection Day" to be always prepared . The with area at the bus is still waiting for the big bus station aKa AZL´s coming Lamy station . In z scale we have now a broad variety of buildings. In some cases the cheap outland are quite usefull if you invest some time with painting.

How did you end up solving the T&P issue? AZL has done MoPac, but no T&P.

How did you end up solving the T&P issue? AZL has done MoPac, but no T&P. MoPac and T&P had nearly the same paint scheme. In times of "Jenks blue" the writing in the "buzz saw" logo was different but in z scale it´s hard to detect due to the size of the logo. Of cours, the loco numbers are different too but I can live with that. I case of the AZL GP 38-2 with the typical MoPac "flying eagle" on the cab I assume that the parent road MoPac helps out with motive power when needed. The same excuse helps in case of my West Texas Eagle ( see pg. 10 of this thread) with the MoPac E8. The 12 car consist is mainly self made with Marsilius coaches but without reporting marks. The dome care from AZL has T&P reporting marks. RPO and baggage wear MoPac reporting marks which might be okay. My THE WESTENER was made with repainted coaches from Marsilius and a MTL baggage, all with the correct buzz saw ( but too big, as from a N scale Micro scale set). the only real T&P engine I have is a repainted MTL GP 9. The T&P gondola in the foreground was made by Marklin. The repainted caboose as well.

I like the varied pavement. Not all roadway is put in at the same time and all are never travelled on equally. Good looking work!

wow! I just looked at your site and what great work......I am the guy who sent you the decals for MP.......THE EAGLE.....etc....you certainly have put them to good use......I might know of someone here in ILLINOIS who has extra AZL cars for the EAGLE....if you are interested, let me know.....he is getting old and is probably liquidating his model railroad.....price would be very fair! in addition to MP cars, he has the set for IC, GN, and NP......let me know if you are interested......you would certainly be a good home for them.

If I'm seeing this correctly, it looks like an MP and T&P E7 (second round E7 request!) with a F7 b-unit in between? Maybe we could fudge a bit and put a E7 b-unit in there?

More than a half year is gone since I posted my last pics of my layout. Although working every day on it nearly nothing was to see "on the surface". Dealing with DCC, soldering below and at least collecting money for progress takes some time. But now I can show you some more details. Marfa/Tx. is still my favourite location on the layout. By searching in the internet for more information about town or prototipical ads,I found this on Wikipedia: A good excuse for additional station stops for the sunset limited and other trains which would normally pass by the town. So I coppied the scene for my layout

Lightning Marfa is still an ongoing process. Up to now, about 150 LED´s are installed, and still a lot is missing. Street lights are only in the center. But I like the opportunity of enjoying some night shots:
