Kuhlmann has to tell us his water secret. His water and all the variations is one of the most fascinating parts of his dioramas. He's a magician.

He published it in last year's Trainini and Rob's Z-Track Magazine. And I wouldn't call this a diorama........ ........ All the best, Sven

Just a little paint job, but it creates nicely a typical B&O RDC ........ Did there exist RDCs with the Chessie logo? Best, Sven

Just a little paint job, but it creates nicely a typical B&O RDC ........ Did there exist RDCs with the Chessie logo? Best, Sven Great images once again. Your query prompted me to pull out my big book of RDC. B&O was fairly basic: aluminum with the B&O logo each side of the door, no nose color: rr-fallenflags.org/bo/bo-rdc1960dr.jpgHowever what is interesting is that they converted several RDC-2s into dining cars such as this one by adding a couple of windows and a kitchen in the baggage section. Many images of this car type on line. The C&O gets a little more interesting. No references to a Chessie logo but their 2 RDC-1s and an RDC-2 car were run as a train called the Chessieliner. They had the faces painted orange (or aluminum) with a white (or yellow) stripe wing pattern under the windows. I would think either would be an interesting project for a Chessie fan. Mark

Thanks, I get to learn something new today! While I find the sale of the ATSF DC191 to B&O, there was no mention of special paint. But remember I'm a west coast guy. As for the second link, there is a bit of confusion. The Zephyrette was the RDC-2 based secondary train for the Western Pacific California Zephyr. Wikipedia should have an image that looks like: abpr.railfan.net/march08/03-23-08/WP376atSaltLakeCityUT8-60ScanColl.jpgWhile the B&O image is nice, it's really not very representative of the WP units. They had the gyralight, roof mounted number boards, and an extra window for the added women's bathroom as the more obvious differences. There are a number of images, B&W and color, of the Chessieliner in the C&O archives: archives.cohs.org/Mark
