Got mine Wednesday from Rob. Well only one set of trucks pull. It has a real low end speed starting out but it also fast. Little to fast for scale speed l think. I will mess with it this weekend and change out couplers. Kinda curious how many freight cars it will pull. Already talked to Stony at shapeways . He is waiting for his to get measurements so he can start on making stuff. Bob

Just changed couples. First loco test it pulled 4-33' Full Throttle coal cars , 2-wood chip cars ,4-40' AZL covered hoppers and 2- 50' AZL covered hoppers on a no grade track. With no problem. Then added 2 more AZL 50' covered hoppers and pulling out of a 220 45degree curve the driver wheels would start hopping and jump the track. My opinion it's going to be nice little yard engine. As for AO 19 couplers there not working to well with other brands. That may be a problem with MTL magne mactic coupler for yard switching. So when the 3D printers start making shells they may want to add a body coupler. Bob

What coupler is an "AO 19"? AO 19 is the Rokuhan short knuckle coupler that snaps in to the shorty power chassis. Apparently it works well for coupling and pulling but not un-coupling. That's why Bob said there would be issues with MTL magne matic couplers. If you're going to use the shorty power chassis as a true switcher, you'll most likely have to use a MTL body mounted coupler and forgo the AO 19.

The Shorty has a lot of potential with a 7mm diameter x 17mm long can and a overall length of 24mm end of gear to end of can mounted in a easily modifiable chassis it will fit in a lot of models that no others would. Here is a pic of one that I tore apart. and here's a pic of where it will fit with a little modification

Making the shorty a little shorter Their is still a fair amount of the original chassis that i plan to trim away but i want to add a few reinforcing strips at the new mounting location first to help maintain proper motor and gear alignment.

A few more pic's of my progress on the Shorty. I still need to set the truck mount a little deeper into the cab, finish the motor mount, and refabricate a new front truck mount.

Once we get power back i will try and get it wired up and video the first test run. The wind storm last night blew over a tree which took out our power lines. Anyway here are a few more mockup pic's. David

This looks awesome! I hope you get your power back soon and that it does well on the first test run. I'm looking forward to more updates.
