So what is the MSRP price shown on the AZL Direct site? If you don't use it, why is it there? It says MSRP. If it really is MSRP, and that is the "reference" price, then that helps.. (need one story here, especially since I am "snarky" ha ha) Greg The price is what it is. It doesn't matter if you call it MSRP, or reference, or a banana, it is simply a price. The AZLDirect price is what we charge an individual for our products. If you meet our criteria for a dealer (have a store, will buy at least $xxx in product per year, place an intial order of $yyy or more) then we will sell you the same product at a lower price. Many of our dealers sell our products for less than the AZLPrice. Our dealers are free to charge whatever they want for our products. On another thread I used the phrase MSRP because it is a phrase most people understand as Full Retail, and we know that many of our dealers sell for somewhat less than Full Retail - sometimes people call that the "Street Price" - anyway, the purpose was simply to give some folks a little guidance on what one of our new product may cost. Frequently, things happen in the design and production process that change the economics, and thus, we change the final price. The final price may be more or less than today's estimate, but some information is usually better than none.

Really folks? This is what some of you want to argue about?
It's really simple... you can either afford it or you can't. If you don't like the price at seller 'A', go to seller 'B'.
For me... the seller's customer support and interaction is worth paying a little more than the cheapest price available. Trust me... some sellers are much better than others.

I made a post yesterday that for some reason did not stay on the forum (maybe I was not signed in). Basically I found the MSRP (when clicking on our product) and asked our web designer to remove it. But as Robert said, the AZL Direct price is what it is.

I'm curious what has you disturbed. You might want to re-read...this is not about comparing sellers or finding the cheapest price. (and not sure I see much argument really?) I only provided a comparison (with the names of the vendors stripped since it wasn't relevant and I want to *avoid* making it about seller comparison) to show the randomness of MSRP or Retail or WhateverYouWantToCallIt. I asked a simple question: Does AZL publish MSRP. I then got the typical "you're an idiot it's right there on AZL Direct's site" type of response, so I countered by basically showing that it doesn't match up with the "MSRP" that the stores are showing. (and somewhere in there AZL confirmed that the "MSRP" on AZL Direct really isn't the MSRP, and has ultimately changed the website.) I feel like I've received meaningful response from AZL about my question. (Thanks Hans) Yes, there was some noise as well. It happens.

Some background...my history is mostly in N-Scale. The major mfgs (especially Atlas and Kato) in N typically announce a product and provide an MSRP that is usually set in stone. I think I've seen an MSRP change maybe 2-3 times in almost 20 years. So you grow to depend on that, combined with a familiarity of how your LHS or e-tailers discount, to set expectations on how something will impact your budget.
AZL is obviously not operating like that, so I'm just trying to figure out their m.o. It seems extremely odd to me that they don't publish a price of some sort with their announcements. But now I have a better understanding of where the dealers get their "Retail" price (even if we can't see it ourselves) so at least that's a start.
