While everyone is stressing about a coder installation I just want to say what an EXQUISITE piece of model art and manufacturing is this little switcher! I received my RIO grande SW1000 a day ago and I couldn’t be more pleased and impressed.
Thank you Hans, and everyone concerned at AZL for this magnificent and epic addition to Z scale modeling. Thank you!!

The method I use to get free rolling B trucks is to drill through the tiny center hole of the journal box with a tiny .80 drill. Then use a larger drill (like a #66) and open that pilot hole ON THE INSIDE at each journal (go slow so as not to drill through the side frame and ruin the detail. You next need Marklin wheels (as commonly found on any Marklin truck type). Trim the edges of the wheel spaces on the bottom of the MTL side frame a little, to give some clearance to the inside of the markin wheel. Snap in the wheel sets and you'll have some easy rolling trucks. The trucks thus modified can still be used on powered MTL trucks.
Forgot to say that the bolster needs the wheel wells removed. I will resemble a "cross" part, with the sides intact to screw the sideframe back on.

those are nice touches to the new top. i'm kind of surprised you didn't redo the exhaust stacks too, but maybe that was more major. the vent on the filter and the new design of the fans is an upgrade. congratulations. dave f.
