I am going to be purchasing an AZL Superliner Lounge car and I would like to add some interior lights and seated people. How do these come apart in order to install people? Any help would be appreciated.

Willy...if you have no one to leave them and are not ever going to use them again, post them here for sale. You could probably sell most of it here. Your post does confuse me a bit as to what is going to be retired.

Does anyone have a Micro-Trains Freight House structure that they would like to sell? Please let me know. Thanks for looking.

AZL makes a nice KCS Bay Window Caboose that would look great with the GP38-2 that Doug mentioned. Attachments:

Good morning Oskar,
You have a good amount of space to build a layout, especially in Z-scale. I would caution that you start with a smaller layout like 30" x 60" or so. It will still allow for nice wide curves but not be so big that it never gets finished. If you want to use track with roadbed attached, I would definitely use the Rokuhan track. They make versions with wood ties or concrete ties. In a 30" wide layout, you can use the 270mm curves. For power, I highly recommend the Rokuhan controllers. I especially like the RC-02. It is very compact and can either use batteries or there is an AC adapter available. For locomotives, AZL makes a KCD de Mexico in both the SD70ACe and the ES44AC and also a Ferromex SD70ACe.
As others have said, keep asking questions as there are a lot of nice folks here willing to help.

Those are excellent points, Mark. I had not thought of that.

Hans...I understand where you are coming from, but that running water on my Norman Rockwell layout generated so much interest at the tiny show that I had it. I think attendance was like 800 people and I bet more than half of those were standing there commenting on that 'real water'. My layout trains will be run from a battery powered Rokuhan controller.

Good morning,
In planning my small layout, I would like to have real running water. I have one of Franklin Mint/Marklin Norman Rockwell layout they made over 25 years ago and it has running water. Those layouts are made of resin. My layout will be based on 2" pink foam. I have seen some pictures of your layouts here with the simulated water and they are fantastic. I would like to know what methods are being used to simualute water on pink foam and opinions as to whether those materials used are waterproof. I know the foam is not waterproof. All opinions are welcome.

Welcome back! I got one of the CB&Q outside braced cars; they are really nice little cars. Will get the rest at some point but saving for the California Zephyr now.

They are rebuilding their website and have been for a few days. They sent out an email Sunday evening saying what was happening.

Good evening....awhile back, I purchased a collection of Z-scale items and in that collection, there were several sets of Z-Thek produced scenes and trees. They come in very nice acrylic cases and look to be really, really well done. I have never scene or heard of these. Can anyone shed any light on these as to when produced, what they cost new and what value they might have? Here is a list of what I have.
21001 Deciduous trees 21002 Fall Trees 21003 Blooming trees 21005 Small trees 21006 Small trees 21007 Small trees 21302 Beer Garden 21303 Picnic at the pond 21504 Country Idyll

Dazed....will you please elaborate on your statement of rubbing the tops of the rails with soft Masonite? Where do you get this product? I thought about just a rag with thinner.
I would be interested in how others wipe off the excess paint from the rails. Thanks for sharing.

Martin...I really like that plan. I have some questions, though.
1. Which of the three loops is the lowest elevation? 2. Something to keep in mind is being able to get the trains on the track. It looks like you have some straight track in the front for all three loops to do so. 3. Are you making provisions for derailments in the tunnel and being able to access the trains?
I will be really curious to see this evolve. Please take photos during the construction process.
