Our latest brass steam was close to $2000 retail. So I think the Krauss-Maffei price is comparable to the Big Boy price wise. Your range reflects assumed production costs. We do not have our final quote yet and that is why the $1100 is a guesstimate.
How bout a few pic's from the beginning? Pre AZL Brass It was back in the September/October 1997 issue of Ztrack Newsletter when they announced the release of The Rogue Locomotive Works GP-38-2 w/Brass Chassis Below is a Quote copied from a email from Rob K
As a special arrangement with Rogue, Ztrack Magazine subscribers had the first opportunity to purchase a SP GP38. The bottom of each of these was stamped, Ztrack and given a unique number. Only 26 were produced. These locos suffered from power pickup issues and truck problems. Some were returned, but when the original Rogue want out of business, some of these returned locos were lost. Therefore, there are less than 26 out there. It should be noted, each chassis was hand produced and milled.
