Hi all,
I was looking some of the AZL trains, and have some questions
Looking at the AZL direct exclusive page..
What would be the difference between say F59PHI Dallas TRE Set #569 and #570?
Do these include the drive unit ?
Are extra carriages available ?
And, what is the minimum radius these trains can use?
I have a 4m long z-gauge layout that was built for something else, but if I'm clever with the scenery, I could run US trains as an alternative.
A 800mm long train length would be the maximum for the passing loops.
Thanks for any assistance.
Andy G from Australia.

What do you mean by "drive unit" ? All what I can say is that these sets include a powered locomotive, ie the F59PHI itself. I have one of these and it's a good runner (and puller).
Now, about the sets' differences, I guess it's just a question of rolling stock and locomotive's roadnumbers...

Thanks domi,
I found a thread about 10 minutes that says they contain locos and why they are the price they are..
The only issue now is the minimum radius they can negotiate.
If I can find that out, and it works for me, I will probably help lower their over-production issue a bit :-)
The tightest curves I have are 195mm radius Marklin curves at each end of the layout
So, Thanks again
Cheers.

You are good with 195mm radius as a minimum, Gradds, On the attached pic you see my train in action. Custom painting, btw, was done by Aaron. Enjoy! Sven

Andy,
Welcome to the forum.
I've been running the F59PHI with the California cars for a number of years and have been happy with the performance and reliability.
The trains sets AZL produced, in general, run <= 4 car trains in the real world and they will definitely fit in an 800mm siding. I'm not aware of AZL ever selling individual cars, only locomotives. That said, the individual Bombardier cars were given out at the Z scale convention in 2012, so about 100 cars are available in the world...somewhere.
In general, unless otherwise specified, it is safe to assume all Z scale rolling stock will operate properly on 195mm curves.
Hope this helps,
Mark
