I dont know how much money it would save by using some of the same parts in different cars, but couldn't you use some of the same parts (Ladders and railings ect) on longer cars too? More bang for the buck. Hans and I used to think the same thing too: how can we recycle some parts (expensive tooling) to make a less expensive car. Then we found out that the reality of the situation is that all of those cars have differences, even in what you think of as the basic parts. Really only the trucks carry over from one car to the next. Even the brake wheels have some differences, and that's a pretty small part! -Robert

I'd like to see a depressed center flatcar in both two truck and 4 truck configuration. Maybe some kind of heavy load to go with both.

Hi Frank, As Robert pointed out, each new freight car is a complete new project without any parts carryover. Trucks are the exception. The only identical parts we have found lately are some F and E unit parts. Since they are developed at the same time, they share some common parts like pilots. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

It makes me happy that AZL is thinking this way about new projects :-) . I have seen different at other brands.

I would like to see a 40' Hi Cube Boxcar and a 1950's tank car like Atlas has done in N - I think it is 11,000 gallons. Also, not sure why a wide vision caboose has not been done. Many potential road names. Any chance the GP30's will come again? Terry

Even if we are approaching 20 different freight cars, we could easily add 20 more. The hard part is always to decide what comes next. And we cannot forget existing products. Both the Bay Window Caboose and 40´PFE cars are back in production. We are working on another run of PS-2 Hoppers. I am sure that the 2 freight cars we will announce at the end of next week in Cleveland will be more than welcome. This year we also came out with the UP CA-1 caboose (in brass). If there is a demand, we can quickly field other brass cabooses as well. Last, the GP30 will return as soon as we get the moulds from our other Chinese manufacturer back. That can take some time, but sometimes during 2015. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

I know the caboose thing is hard because they are generally specific to a certain railroad. Looking very forward to the F3/F7's. I am somewhat new to Z and just purchased a NYC GP30. Amazed how quiet and smooth running it was straight out of the box - would love to see you rerun the Great Northern GP30's as I have not even seen them on eBay.

I would be interested in additional brass cabooses. I would buy either the classic New York Central wooden caboose or the 25' Great Northern wood caboose. I'm thinking the brass cabooses you have done so far must have sold very well as they are mostly gone from the dealers. Especially the CA-1 cabooses. I think the prices are pretty reasonable. Terry.

I was hoping for more plastic cabooses not just the bay window. I wish the UP CA-1 and wooden ones where plastic so they weren't the price of an engine. I would of bought a handful. NE-1 CB&Q caboose would be cool but in plastic.

As much as I would like to own, more than any other Z scale car I could wish for, a CB&Q NE-1 waycar (caboose), it is only good for CB&Q and perhaps BN. I would like a NE-12 also, but in spite of what was found in all those HO trainsets from Bachmann, it was also only used by the Q. NE-13 on the other hand, was a standard caboose that was bought, and not made in the shops. Variations were used by a LOT of railroads. CB&Q in Silver, silver with those big red stripes, and solid orange with black lettering would work for my time period. www.home.earthlink.net/~vnlbeck/Waycar/clw.html

How about an entire range of MOW cars? Heavy and light duty cranes, crane tenders, tool cars, crew cars, generator cars, self contained back hoe and drilling cars, water cars, and so on. Here's something else, how about a V-Blade snow plow w and w/o a retractable wide wing?

Piggy back flat cars? With truck trailers from different eras? I used to see a LOT of them on trains back in the 60s and 70s. I was just looking at some pictures of Illinois Central and Illinois Central Gulf cars. Some of these flatcars that AZL makes, just need the trailers. Myself I would prefer some older ones from the 50s to very early 60s, especially CB&Q
