With the new GP coming up I'd like to submit this image from the WP. Note the different nose paint schemes. I would be nice if you could do something like this. It would seem that changing the nose print pad, it would be no more difficult than changing road numbers. Mark

Bob, I always liked this image, it shows most of the WP paint schemes. This is how I remember west coast trains, no two locos alike. Don't know if this degree of variation is/was typical on other roads, but it seems to me to be a way to offer "new" products without major changes. Regardless of the nose paint (so long as its prototypically correct) I'm looking forward to the WP GPs in Zephyr colors.

Interresting picture. Is it a recent one? I'm puzzled to see ditchlights on the head end unit..

Dom yes very recent. If is from the last year or two. If I remember correctly, it was an equipment move for one of the west coast museums.

Dom, Movement of historic equipment between museums in California (Portola, Jamestown, Sacramento and the Bay Area) is not uncommon and a great photo op. The image above is from either Feb 2006 or Mar 2011. I believe it was 2006 from the cars being pulled. Here's the transfer point at Hearst in 2006: www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=135056&nseq=15If you think the ditch lights look strange here, you should see them on the F unit one of the museums has.
