Knowing as we do now that AZL will be doing another run of RDCs, here's my (unlikely) candidate. The Port Authority of Allegheny County's RDCs started out in life as RDC-3s but were rebuilt by SEPTA to RDC-1s and then moved west from Philly to Pittsburgh. BTW, anybody interested in some background reading on the Budd RDCs really ought to try and pick up a copy of Don Duke & Ed Keilty's "RDC - The Budd Rail Diesel Car" from Golden West Books (no connection whatsoever, I just like the book). With a new run of RDCs, will the lighting board be updated to be a bit more DCC friendly?

A Great Northern or Northern Pacific version would be nice for us Northwest fans!

The trouble with a GN RDC would be that GN 2350 - their only RDC ever - was an RDC3. www.rr-fallenflags.org/gn/gn-r2350dsa.jpg Lots of differences (changes) from an RDC-1. And for AZL's purposes, a limited market, as there would only be one road number. All that said, I'd be perfectly happy if a GN was brought out. :-)

There would probably be as good a market for RDC-3s as the RDC-2s. It would fit on the RDC-1 chassis and the shell data for an RDC-3 is 85% the RDC-2. Just a thought... Also, since this popped up again, the RDC-1 SP #10 has been acquired for cosmetic restoration and is being moved from Galveston to Sacramento.

And you can guess my preference for an RDC-3, Great Northern's 2350
