Well they say there a couple guys out there . But the real answer that I see is no one stocks replacement parts for anyone to be able to repair. AZL has a few things. Z has a way to go for parts to be readily available . For example atlas N scale you can build pretty well build any locomotive from wheels up frame ,motor , shell,cab, sills and hand rail to couplers,and etc. hopefully Z will get there one of these days. So you if you have a favorite locomotive Best to buy 2 or more if you can. Just my 2 cents

What do you need repaired. I know couple guys that can help. Well nothings broken yet, i plan on getting a gp 38-2,and i want options if it does break ,thanks for your help.

Tommy,
Since there are some known issues with the GP38, I would suggest looking at a new GP30 or a GP7/9 up front. They cost more but have finer details. My GP7 looks and runs great. I posed a question to the group a few months ago about the GP7 vs. GP38 and they convinced my to go with the GP7. I am happy I did.
