Check out this video released a little over a week ago (May 27, 2016), specifically the part at 2:40 as it pertains to Z scale. John Raildig.com

John, Interesting, but since I can find no other reference to the track on-line (including the Atlas site) I don't think I'd be waiting around for it.

I don't get it. I saw nothing that is remotely related to z. Why are we doing advertising for Atlas in a z scale forum. I thought it would be bad for AZL if Atlas got into the scale.

Try watching the video a few more times and pay closer attention to what is being said /shown at right around 2:40 into the video. You just might hear/see something related to Z scale.

Why would they release flex track and nothing else (turnouts, etc.)? MTL has already filled the flex track need and we have no idea what other brands of track this would work with in regards to tie spacing, rail height, etc. There has to be more to this story. Atlas tried doing the Tru-Track in N-scale and it never really did take off. The selection of different pieces is extremely limited. Admittedly, the Tru-Track looks better than Unitrack (tie spacing).

It's a start. Hopefully this will work great for Atlas, and they can start producing more Z-scale items!! Atlas could really do alot for the Z-scale industry.

I agree; if Atlas is getting into the game, I'm all for it. The more the merrier!

I hope they are going to make turnouts. Without turnouts, it will be as popular as Peco Z scale flex.

I hope they are going to make turnouts. Without turnouts, it will be as popular as Peco Z scale flex. That's exactly what I've been crying for, for years. Speaking of track, MTL flex fulfills all my requirements. On the opposite, sorry folks I always repeat myself, in my opinion there's still an huge item missing to our beloved scale: a true simple power routing turnout, factory manufactured, with no plastic roadbed and no side mecanism. Maybe one day... Dom

It is (has to be) code 55. Their rail head is very close to the wider Peco/Märklin/Rokuhan. MTL and Micro Engineering still have the finest scale c55.
Nice thing is that it will be LONG, and flexible, like their N and Peco's Z.

Hi Gang,
Just for the record, we welcome Atlas and their Flex track to Z scale with open arms! We are not in the track business, so any new choices for our clients is a healthy development for Z scale. A big name like Atlas also helps to validate Z scale as one of the major scales (along with O, HO and N) and hopefully brings new folks into Z.
Best, -Rob(A)

It would be great to have another Z manufacturer with the resources Atlas has at their fingertips.

Competiton is good for business. I also agree that it will help validate Z scale. And while I am pleased with the Atlas products that I own, I have yet to see ANY rolling stock with the kind of quality that AZL is producing. Bring it on Atlas. Turnouts also or it will be a useless exercise.
