Burlington Northern's White Face scheme is what I was referring to. In my other hobby; Model Ships (a fraction of the hobby market compared to RR modeling) short run decals are the norm. I guess I just figured someone would already be there with something off the shelf.

Timothy, I just don't know what that paint scheme looks like. There are a lot of model RR decals, but Z scale is only about 8% of the hobby and people like Micrroscale have said in the past that the there isn't enough market and the resolution requirements are too hard. Like I said there are companies that will do it for a price. I looked into it a while back and found the perfect printer at $7000 which uses $600 of ink that has a 30 day lifetime. I'd need to print 1200 decal sheets/month just to break even. I suspect the folks who do small runs have professional access to such printers. or the really old Alps printer that did white.

Where are you guys finding decals for Z-scale? I want to paint up some GP-38's in BN white face and don't see decals anywhere. I don't know if Robert Ray still makes decals for others but you might want to drop him a note; he's done several BN custom paints/bashes -- he might be able to assist you if he's willing. On another note, there are a few Z scalers on this forum that have Alps printers that might be able to help. The plus comes in if you have some experience with Photoshop, Corel Draw....some require you to have your file ready for printing. RailGraphicsDecals.com out of Elgin, Illinois, does a real nice job and not too, too pricey for a file ready job -- you'll get a few sheets too. You might also check petescustomdecals.com. Their site says they have hundreds of decal sets drafted and not listed - "any decal set shown can be printed in another scale." CJ

Rob doesn't do decals anymore. His job is all consuming and he has found other interests that take up any other available time. He is still an avid model railroader and Z scaler.
Please note: he is a perfectionist so his decals are based on exacting research (that most all do NOT do, even though he specifically requests it). Any example are must be CLEAR, high resolution PHOTOS or actual drawing. What he hates is having to do all the research to get the art work both correct and also recreating it. Takes WAY too many hours for what seems trivial to most. He prefers to spend to now few minutes left resting from gruling work schedules. Similar to Tim Beuhring.
