Time for allow poll. What is your favorite AZL injection locomotive series? I am going to group the locos such as the SD70, SD70M and SD75s. These almost could be their own poll due to all of the difference details. But let's keep it basic! I also would love to hear why they are your favorite. Thanks!
Oh and for the record... I went with the SD70 series. There are my go to locos for long train running and hauling.

I picked the RDC. I just have a thing for RDC's. It ran silent and like a Swiss watch right out of the box. I love it. That being said, I have at least one of everything, except the GP30 and the E8, E9 series, so far. I like them all, so it is hard to choose. My F59 is a little beast, have to give it special mention. Keep them coming

I've got at least one of just about everything in the poll. Can't complain about any of them and this is a difficult decision. Ultimately, I went with the RDC. It's a unique bit of railroading. As Trey mentioned, a great runner. Pop one on your layout and everyone wants to know what it is.

This is a tough one. My least favorite would be the gp38-2, great price but not my favorite.

Can't help but agree with what's been said - this really is a tough one. I actually like the SD70s a lot, mine look great and run great. But I know the SD70s are going to get a lot of votes so I actually voted for the GP38-2, seeing it was still looking for its first touchdown when I voted - for the simple reason that it's such a versatile loco both in terms of prototype and era. Plus it's a great entry loco into Z. But all in all, any modern loco will make me happy, and a happy Z scaler I am.

Tough choice for me as well. After a long hesitation between SD70s and GP38-2s I finally chose these last models, because as atw says these are very versatile and may be seen anywhere whithin north america's railroad network, from industrial railroads to Class 1, from Alaska to Yucatan (that will be depicted by my future layout), from Quebec to California, from Washington state to Florida, and from Maine to Oregon... As for me, my undecs are in the process of beeing painted into Ferrocarril Chiapas Mayab / Genesee & Wyoming paintscheme. Go GP38-2s.  And if in the future we could have a few U-Boats... Dom |

The SD70s are my go-to MU for a long train. Awesome pullers. I even have UP Mike's three-loco set with a hollowed-out unit for the sound decoder.

As much as I like steamers and would have liked to cast my vote for the Mike I just didn't think it was fair to compare 1 steamer to a bunch of diesels! So... My favorite prototype out of the bunch would be the GP30, I for some reason like the way they look and for their era they were capable for the job. Plus they were built from '61 to '63 which encompasses the year I was born. There are still a few in service near where I live.

Without a question, the Santa Fe SD75M. They look fantastic in the classic warbonnet scheme. I like my GP38-2's and they've been fantastic runners but when it comes to looks, it's the Santa Fe's. Thanks, AZL!

The gp38-2 is my least favorite simply because when I repaint them they are a pain. All the other engines come apart so nicely. I have all of the engines listed above. The SD70 is a very nice engine and very cool to repaint in fallen flag colors. The gp7/9 is an excellent choice. The GP30 is one of my favorite engines. I think if another run was to happen AZL could release new road names. They missed quite a few big railroads on the first run like Chessie, B&O, C&O, N&W and CSX. The E8 is an amazing engine that hits a void in the market. I model the 1940s and 1950s so this engine is perfect. I've been very pleased with every AZL engine I have owned.

I had to go with the SD70 due to the choices available. I actually like the GP30 more, but choices are too limited. I have two a Great Northern GP30 stock AZL and a BNSF GP39 customized version. I would love to have some old BN, CB&Q, GP30's and BN GP39's.
The GP7 and GP9 is a close second. I love the GP38's for their affordability, but am disappointed by the BNSF versions with their poor choice of roadnumbers.

Thanks everyone! I am going to lock this poll down in the next few days. With the F3s not available, it is already out dated. I am not surprised by the results. It is going to be fun to see how this changes in the coming year(s) as new locomotives are released.

... With the F3s not available, ... Rob, I think not is NOT the word you were looking for. Perhaps a Freudian slip? You know something Hans doen't? Actually with all the new products coming out, you could practically have a poll for favorite of 2015, 2014, etc. |
