Still going!
But I'm going to stop it soon. Need to look at it internally.

Rob, A bit of data I ran across: the world record for Z scale operation in 1985 by Marklin was 1219 continous hours for a total 273.8 actual (60,000+ scale) miles.

It's done - pulled from the track over a week ago.
I did look up that record, but since I don't have any proof of when it started, I didn't see the point in trying to "break" it... although, I think it probably had a damn good chance to do it!
I stopped at over 1000 hours.

I would Almost be wiling to challenge that record. Of course, I'd like the motor donated for the record attempt. Could it hit 60 Days...

Is there going to be a UP Release of the GP 38-2 motors? They're still used throughout the system...

Well that's frustrating.

I borrowed the only GP38-2 at NTS 2012 from my friend Thomas.I ran it for about an hour on my layout pulling 20 cars with absolutely no problems what ever.
I will be buying the CSX when it gets here but would like to replicate my HO scale GP38-2 in Z for my freelanced railroad.Starting with a undec would certainly make this project easier. ;D

Rob,
I just acquired a gp7 which run great. Is there a voltage, current listing somewhere for various
AZL engines?

Rob, I just acquired a gp7 which run great. Is there a voltage, current listing somewhere for various AZL engines? Gp7 should go up to 10 volts. If it draws more than 500ma, then there is probably a problem with the motor, gears, or it really needs a cleaning badly! Best Rob

My work on the GP7 was minimal, but here's the power curve: Attachments:

Rob,
thanks for the info. My GP7 is right on the curve, about 30ma at
8 volts. I'll try 10volts when I feel it has broken in a bit.
