Hello all, I'm Garrett, I am looking for some GP30 UP pilots with body mount couplers, I have a GP38-2 on the way, and Id like to see if I can't retrofit these on it. So I apologize to the company for wanting to modify the Geep in such a way but as you can see by my screen name I've had to deal with this problem before I am also aware this will void any warranty but I like realism even in the smaller scales.

Just received my GP38 today, smooth running loco. only problem it had some pick up issues so I pulled the shell off and wiped all of the grease off the brass pick-ups and moved the wheels with the traction tire to one axle on the "rear" truck, this helped with some pick up issues as the trucks would teeter totter due to the traction tires being too thick, I may need one plain wheelset to replace the traction tired wheel set and use bullfrog snot instead. Details are as expected, for something as small as this, this is not a bad thing, 10 years from now and we will have highly detailed z scale or smaller... This is a great locomotive, which is nice because before I bought this I started to put payments on a metrolink F59ph set so this means the quality will be just as good. Or better if this sweet GP38 is just a beginner locomotive.
so not to draw away from this thread any more... I will most definitely need some UP GP30 pilots And atleast one standard wheelset. So where can I buy these parts that I "need"? *edit* added last sentence due to phone posting before I hit post...

.... That didn't necessarily help me on my questions... I would like to buy two UP GP30 pilots, as in the ones that snap in for body mount coupling, and one standard drive wheelset without a traction tire... So where may I find the resources I need to buy those parts..

I was installing a dcc board on my GP 30 and broke one of the circut board tabs on one side of the side frame. can I get a part number to order a set?

I too would like to see snap in pilots with body mounted couplers available as spare parts.
My understanding is that they were left off the gp 38 to keep the costs down. It makes sense. However, that said, I'd pay around 15 dollars for an after market snap in pilot like the GP 7 as a spare part.

Going to need some spare traction tires at some point too. On the new wheels, the traction tire sticks WAY out, not 'embedded flat' like it is on the SD-70 series. This also seems to make the loco rock quite a bit on turnouts and some trackwork where it doesn't track the rail tread surface. These really need to be flush with the wheel's overall contact surface, as they were in prior locos.

I for one like like to see traction tires that one can buy separately to install on AZL trucks where the pads have worn or fallen off. It would be a lot easier and cheaper to then having to buy the entire truck assembly.
