Hi everybody, It's that time of year again. I'll be organizing the Z scale modular layout(s) for the 2020 NTS in St. Louis, MO. The dates for the show are July 17, 18 and 19, 2020.
Please let me know if you'd like to bring modules of any kind so that I can draw up a layout plan. The sooner you can let me know, the better.
You can reply to me here or at twnts2014@hotmail.com or rvn2001@hotmail.com
Thanks for participating, Thom Welsch MidweZt HaulerZ

Canceled for the year or are they considering a later date?

I expect the year - I can't see conventions or train shows being permitted before a vaccine or effective therapy (drug) so that's maybe 6 months away minimum.
In the meantime - train season has been extended! - stay healthy and go build modules!

The web site says "Cancelled" not delayed. The email I received said cancelled based on: the shelter in place orders, presenters and layout owners pulling out of the convention, the venue not wanting to commit, problems for the organizing committee including a covid-19 positive member (hope the best for him). Well there is always Santa Clara next year.

This is on their website:
NMRA 2020 Convention & Train Show Cancelled
As everyone is aware, the coronavirus has had a devastating impact around the world. It has caused the death of tens of thousands of people and that is not something to be trivialized.
The NMRA national convention, Gateway 2020, is scheduled to start on July 12, 2020, in St. Louis, Missouri. That being said, the local host group has determined that they can no longer continue with the preparations and operation of the convention. Among the reasons for this decision is the fact that one key member is ill with COVID-19. The host group requests your prayers for him.

I'll be starting up the 2021 NTS in our local Santa Clara, CA. Gives me a head start The biggest question will always be how much space we can get. At NTS, we got cut in half and a painful 25' wide. There was a lot of unused floor space when all was said and done! Some of that was some no-shows and also the difficult long halls to the Salt Lake City area. For the San Francisco Bay Area, there are LOTS of modular layouts along with many in the Pacific region so, could be even more difficult to grab some space.

OK ....... So the 2020 NMRA convention and train show were cancelled for this year. The NMRA has been running NMRA X on Facebook and YouTube. What to do about Z scale modular layouts? I've got an answer. Now that you're finished with the clinics and prototype tours it's time to check out the NTS for the Z scale modular layout that's supposed to be there. You've got your ticket and you're standing in line waiting patiently. Finally, they open the doors and start taking tickets. You come through the door and see all of the vendors. You can see the layouts starting just past them. The map in the flyer that came with your ticket shows the Z scale modular layout near the rear of the hall a little to the right of the center aisle. Look at all of this BIG stuff! There's the layout you've been looking for. It's time to get a good look. Get a container of your favorite beverage and maybe something to snack on. Get comfortable in your chair and click on the link. It's a 33-minute video of some of my trains running on my modules. Enjoy! Thom Welsch
