Are there any Z Scale modelers in the Fort Worth, TX area?
I am 3 weeks into Z Scale, after modeling in HO and N for over 50 years. I needed a smaller scale because I don’t have space for an N Scale or HO layout.
I also have questions and need some insight into my new trains.
Thanks
Jim Fort Worth

Hi Jim, I am in far northeast Dallas, but I work in the Irving area. I know a couple of Z-scalers in the "mid-cities" (Hurst-Euless-Bedford area) that are somewhat closer to Fort Worth. I'm not aware of any Z clubs in the area. We've talked about trying to scrape a few modules together to run at shows but so far no organization to that affect. I'm in pretty much the same boat. Was in N for forever and was looking for a change...considered just getting out completely for a bit, but as I sold off N and had some funds I decided to move toward Z. While it's not a huge amount smaller, the difference was significant enough to me. I've been in Z about 4 years now, but exclusively for about a year or so. Truthfully, online is about the best place to get answers/insight. But I'm always up for meeting MRR's in the area and also would be happy to help if you have specific things you are needing assistance with. EDIT: I have a Facebook page that shows some of the stuff I've been doing in Z and my (lack of) layout progress. www.facebook.com/mockindDoug

Hey guys,
I'm not in the Metroplex, but rather down in San Antonio. I recall seeing somewhere at some point in the long-ago past that there were a couple Z clubs listed in the directory in Ztrack magazine...but its definitely been a while. Give me a shout if you're ever down towards Austin/San Antonio.
Cheers, Justin

Hi Justin,
I rarely make it down to SA, but I'll holler if I do. I've wanted to go down to the New Braunfels show at some point...maybe when this Covid thing is done we could meet up there some time. Likewise, if you're ever up in the DFW area give me a shout.
There was a Z group in the DFW area back in the early-2000's but I don't think it still exists. One of the guys was also in an N group I belonged to but we lost touch.

I live in the OKC area. Built and rebuilt 3 z scale layouts so far. One is an oval Rokuhan track I made for my wife for our 50th wedding anniversary. She runs it most mornings. The big layout is a rebuilt Marklin layout that I added scenery and lots of track. Attachments:

Congrats on 50 years...that's a pretty amazing accomplishment. It's nice that y'all both enjoy the hobby.
