I am sad to announce the death of Johnathan "Catt" Edwards in August of 2018, after almost 2 years of failing health. John and I were train show partners for 25 years. My specialty was N scale layouts exclusively, John worked in N and Z alternately. With his passing, I have inherited all 3 of his Z scale layouts and the buildings and some locos and rolling stock. They will not be hidden away, I plan to upgrade, operate and take some to train shows. He will be sorely missed.

Johnathan was instrumental in dragging me into Z. He was always working to promote the hobby and show his layouts. He will be missed. Glad to hear the torch will be passed so his layouts will live on.

His home layout, which he documented in several of his posts a few years back, is now in my basement. I have slightly downsized it, it is no longer L shaped. The small extension he added was never scenicked, and an L would not fit my space. I have framed the main and nicely detailed portion, as a module. 6 feet long, by 30 and 1/4 inches wide. I will be posting some photos of it in the near future. I also have his N scale Grand Valley Railway home layout to install in my train room, after re-working it into modules for whoever comes after I am gone. John built it as a permanent layout. It was a LOT of work to remove. When it is time for my version of it to be moved, it will be quite easy to do. And I have his N scale 32" x 48" N scale show layout, an Industrial Park, loaded with lots of LARGE scratch-built industrial buildings, which I have taken to 2 local train shows this season. Now, if anyone could connect me with his Z scale friend named John Kellett, I would appreciate it.
