ere is the plan Noch supplied for my Cortina Layout. Ideally I would like to have two block sections with two trains running, with automatic switching between inner and outer loop and block sections. Seems it would be pretty cool and a quite varied interesting operation. I have two semaphores and have installed the track as shown, but I think I would need to install 8589 switching track sections. Thats about as far as I get before confusion sets in! I have the Marklin "track layout" book...any suggestions?

If you have already done everything to the plan, you've already solved the first part of your request... "two block sections with two trains running." The second part is a bit more tricky. Greenberg's "Guide to Z Scale" has the best available info that is easily found on the internet ... Semaphores: www.guidetozscale.com/html/signals.htmlAutomatic Operation: www.guidetozscale.com/html/automatic_operation.htmlUnfortunately, many of the parts are no longer available, so the last Noch track plan that includes the auto operation is obsolete. I have such a plan but would need your email address. That plan also has a lot of text, but it's completely in German.

Wow thanks you are a great help! I have two semaphores and the 8588 isolaters installed per the plan, I suppose my question is where do I put the 8589 switching track sections to trigger the semaphores? Will take a look at your guides, my email is plschulten@bellsouth.net. Really busy week getting ready for a show this weekend, my "other" hobby! www.eagleairshow.com

Hi Paul: Your other hobby looks really fun! My plan that I have is for Cortina ... finally saw your attachment and your other message indicating this is Silbertal. 8589 ... you will install it somewhere in the block as shows in the diagram... Another nifty Marklin instructions link ... z-world.com/instructions/Click on 8589 and you see the original instruction sheet with details on how to wire for the semaphores. Simply insert your 8589 into any straight section on your plan. If it needs to go where there's a 220mm (8505) ... use 8589+8503+8500 to fill that spot. If replacing a 110mm straight (8500), use 8589+8503 ... If replacing a 55mm section - it's a direct replacement.
