I would buy it if already built... Archistories offers for most of their kits the possibility to order them fully built. Don't know if they do it with this one as well since it is a special. Just ask! Best, Sven

Just ask! Best, Sven Sven, I did not know that. I love the looks of their motorized windmill but am the first to admit it's assembly is beyond my modeling capabilities. Do we contact them via their website? I live near Windmill Point so it would be prototypical for my region. Deb

I just spoke with Mr. Drees of Archistories. He said his usual built pricing is 4 times MSRP. So, for him to build a Marienfehn Z windmill is 47.9Euro * 4 = 191.6 Euro plus shipping from Germany to USA.
Archistories' Goldtree station is not available from Mr. Drees directly in any form - built or not. z.scale.hobo will be offering built versions as time permits ... again for 4x the US$ pricing listed at my site.

If Frank is too busy and anyone wants one quicker...and if Frank is ok with it...I would make the same offer to build one (Or any of the comparable Archistories models that Frank has in stock.) at that 4x price plus one shipping charge...I won’t charge for both shipments. And I’ll guarantee you’re happy with it. (You would only have to pay to ship it back at that point). I just had unexpected dental surgery and can use the funds. Doug

Press-in windows are brilliant! No fuss, no mess. Like all their kits, this station goes together like a jigsaw puzzle. Very nice!

Okay, so let me temper my enthusiasm about the windows by saying they are brilliant PROVIDED YOU DON'T DROP ANY! Sadly there are zero spare window films. Like all dropped Z components that disappear into the ozone never to be seen again, I dropped a window film and after an hour of fruitless searching with a flashlight, I gave up. Fortunately I had some spare film. So-- just a word of caution-- don't drop anything! Yeah right

after an hour of fruitless searching with a flashlight, I gave up. Deb 🙄☹️ I drop tiny parts all the time, springs, cars tire on those tiny models, etc.... My solution, I keep handy my vacuum cleaner very close at hand, and I just put a used nylon stockings between the vacuum pipes. then I pass the vacuum everywhere on the floor, and then look into the stockings, and eureka here's my lost piece in there. Since I've been using this method, I never lost a part.

I had planned to ask Archistories for extra windows based on my own experience ... but which size? I had lost one of the very narrow pieces on the city side of the station when trimming it from the rest but I ended up finding it. Maybe just a large square that allows users to trim out whatever size they need. Ben's idea is brilliant; another idea is to work on a table top that has edges to keep parts from "flying" away. But I think when building or working on anything in z scale, we need to be on our toes constantly. Marklin coupler springs come to mind in this regard. At any rate, contact me and I can try to help if you lose something when building this kit.

Frank, you are so right! Lol What snaps in like a breeze falls out just as easily! It wasn't until I glued on the trim pieces that the window panes stayed in place. Oh, and I finally found that durn window film this morning. It was sitting on my work table the whole time. 😖 If I could suggest a kit improvement-- make the trim work out of peel & stick material like the old Stonebridge models. Gluing was tedious.

Trim is 3/4 complete. Then comes the roofs & porches. Now I understand why some modelers like the lighted mag head gear. I use a mag light on a stand but that's when Im most likely to drop something! Lol

For any sort of laser scribed material, but particularly clear, I like to apply it to masking tape before cutting. The pieces generally stick to the tape.

I am working on the station now. No need to glue windows. They are held in place by the bracing (which has to be glued). I would combine step 5 and 6. Finish on side at the time. Then you do not have to risk anything falling out before they are secured.
