Perhaps trying creative weathering techniques to obscure part of the road numbers? Would make dupes less likely to stand out.
Do agree that while different road numbers on everything would be nice, it isn't all that important. Besides, on a moving train it is harder to see and remember the duplicate numbers.
Mark in the weathering thread said that he liked the idea of "patching" in place of weathering. I've seen articles for other scales where they would "patch" over the road numbers with different numbers and even liveries.
Not trying to jack this thread too much, but throwing a few ideas out there.

BNSF lettering on the war bonnet paint would be another good and easy to do goal for AZL. I'm on vacation in western Montana and it's seems about half the trains I've seen have old war bonnet BNSF lettered unit in them..

I only bought one of their BNSF GP38-2's because the engines they chose to model are all wrong in very noticeable ways. I kind of feel like BNSF sales are taken for granted and don't have to be right. Can you give some examples? I would really like to learn so we can correct anything in future production runs. Cheers, -Rob(A) AZL BNSF 2032 is a GP35 rebuilt into a GP38-2 and doesn't really match in details. The other AZL engines #2007, 2013, and #2016 are rebuilt GP40's. All do not match the 38-2 body details. The rear fan spacing should be further apart and the rear grill should also be longer. It looks like the 2032 now has a 38-2 dynamic brake blister and filter housing, but the cab doesn't have the rear overhang. I was going to scrachbuild it, but decided I could renumber it instead. In researching it, I found that BNSF has repainted 13 "as built" GP38-2's into the Swoosh scheme. They are for reference listed below: 2102 2104 Winter window 2106 2107 Winter window 2257 2258 2260 Low head light 2272 Low head light 2273 Low head light 2279 Low head light, Cab AC, Remote operation 2303 Low head light, Cab AC 2306 Low head light 2318 Low head light, Cab AC, Remote operation
The first six units would be closer in detail to the existing AZL GP38-2 shell. I know it may not be cost effective to make minor changes to the tool for each prototype, but at least look up pics of the numbers you choose and compare the obvious details.

Most of us if asked would gladly look over drawings and renderings for errors. I think we all would prefer more accurate trains.
