I debated whether I should just stick with Marklin tracks & their limited radii or whether I wanted the flexibility that flex tracks allows. Nice to know the Marklin, however ugly, will integrate well. I'm not getting any younger either so waiting seems like a waste of time. Märklin also offers flextrack (art.nr. 8594, 660mm) if you like their other parts and want to stick with them. /JB

Don't hold your breath waiting on Atlas Z turnouts, they have had HO code 83 curved turnouts in radius 22/30 listed as "coming soon (Walthers: availability tba)" for at least 3-4 years now, And you can expect anything in Z Gauge to move a lot slower than anything in HO.

Marklin's 8594 flex will only flex in one direction and is really stiff. One side [under one rail] has ties/sleepers cut to expand, the other side does not have cuts and is therefore 'stiff'.
Peco SL-200 is *exactly* the same as the Marklin's 8594, but is completely flexible, without cutting.

At my local store we tried Peco Flex together with Märklin (since Peco has no switches, I wanted to use those from Märklin) and had some issues at the joiners (or was it "Murphy" ? ) ; I wonder if they use the same "code" rails. Finally I went to ... Rokuhan, they have a complete and coherent assortment (only flex is ugly and will be used as "compensation" only in tunnels ! )

Peco SL-200 is *exactly* the same as the Marklin's 8594, but is completely flexible, without cutting. Stiff isn't the word for it, and flexible isn't either. Now Marklin's rail sections are quality & go together well. Their limited radii offerings are the problem. And they are pricey but I don't mind paying for quality if it satisfies all my needs. My new layout, still in the planning stages, will have some long straight & curvy runs, perfect for flex tracks. Still debating combining Atlas with Marklin switches or sticking with Marklin's limitations.

Outside of the Atlas lower price, I would use the Peco SL-200 so the ties and rail all match up. Plus easy for you to shape wonderful transition curves.

I hope that's the exact product right there-no unsightly huge switch machine hanging off to the side!

Interesting to note that it appears to have a spring built in to secure the points.....GREAT feature. Also glad to see it's a number 6.....at least a little better option than a number 5. A 6 and then eventually a 10 would be a nice combo.
Exciting news!!!!

Great to see these finally coming out. It looks they have a contact for wiring up the frog, a very nice feature that should definitely help out locomotives with short wheel bases (like switchers). Exciting indeed!
