I've been sitting here planning my winter model railroading projects. Since AZL has in the past done an excellent job of reading my mind (the most recent the announced heavyweight combine), I have to ask if there are plans to go beyond the existing roads and paint schemes for the heavyweight cars?
In particular I'm thinking of west coast two-tone grey, which I'm already presuming will be available in the Lightweight series, and SP aluminum with Scarlet letter board.
If yes, any suggestions of rolling stock you won't be doing? I'm thinking sugar beet cars, but who knows....

Hi Mark,
Good question. There are some more HW cars I would like to produce in the future, but right now I'm concentrating on our Lightweight cars - they are in production now, and there is a HUGE variety of colors - I do not think you will be disappointed.
The HW Combine will initially be available in colors that we have previously produced - similar to when we added the RPO and 3-2 Observation car. Then we will add other colors later.

Most likely, yes, we will do a Daylight Combine. Well I guess I'll hold off on the slice-and-dice of the coach and baggage car on my workbench. For myself, the UP SD70ace SP heritage and SP E7B. But I'm speaking more in a general sense. Of late I've been talking up Z scale every time I pick up an order from my local AZL dealer. People listen, they are impressed with the product, both AZL and MTL, but the conversation eventually goes something like: "Do they have XYZZY?""Oh yes!" "Where can I get one?""well, ah...you can check eBay" It doesn't matter that there are 130 different boxcars available, just that the "Santa Fe...all the way" one isn't. BTW: if Joe is reading this, MTL's response to the sell out of the N scale eclipse boxcar doesn't help. I'm preparing a presentation on Z scale for the NMRA Sierra division in February (time and exact location in the Sacramento area TBD for any NMRA members who want to come and heckle) and it is truly amazing all that has been produced in Z scale. But in cross referencing my list to the manufacturers' websites as well as major retail sites it's disappointing how much is no longer available. Of course people tell me that's true of all model railroading. I'm climbing down from my soapbox... Mark

Rob:
I have heard through my various sources that the CN wet noodle in the black and white heavyweights will not be produced even though the baggage car has been. I understand that this is the only line out of the original prototypes that won't be produced? Is there a problem that is preventing this from happening?

What I read is that AZL hasn't decided what the future heavyweights will be. If you want something specific I've found it helpful to provide prototype image examples, just in case they hadn't already thought of it.
Of course it could also be a licensing issue, like AmtrakĀ®. Of course you'd probably know more about that.

Some Great Northern Heavyweights in the "Empire Builder" scheme would be nice.

This is slightly off topic, but not sure it deserves a new thread. Say I wanted to renumber a baggage car. Normally I'd try to use a rubber or pen 'eraser' to remove a stamp. I want to buy another baggage and renumber it

I want to buy another baggage and renumber it I have had good luck using Micro-Sol with AZL cars. Search here or Google for "Micro-Sol letter removal" and you'll find plenty of info on the process. Athearn has a nice video about it as do others. I'm not saying for 100% sure this will work with the baggage cars, I have not tried it on that specific car. Others may chime in about that.
